Why is losing weight so hard

Why cant i lose weight

At times it can feel like you are destined to never lose weight because dieting is too hard. And it is, I have been on that roller coaster.

I had tried and failed at several types of diets and it was not until I looked for professional help that I started to make breakthroughs.

Here are two reasons I personally have encountered that have contributed to why most diets failed for me & others I have spoken with, and how to set yourself up for success. If you can avoid the mistakes I made, the fat loss process becomes much easier.

1. Choosing Perfection Over Consistency

No one is perfect, especially when it comes to nutrition, add in work, kids, social time and suddenly there are a whole lot of opportunities for failure. You need to have compassion for yourself and patience if you are going to succeed in any goal, and that includes weight loss.

Many people quit fat loss programs because they muck up by giving in to cravings and think, that is it – too hard.

Dieting is hard to sustain long term, a healthier approach is to find a suitable way of eating that fits your personal & family lifestyle.

This allows for breaks in clean eating to give you room for soul eating.

If you look at it as 21 main meals a week, one or two unplanned meals is not going to sink you. Allowing it to turn into a week of binge & guilt eating will.

It is far more important to be consistent & follow a plan that you know you can realistically stick to for you & your family.

Which leads to my personal mistake number 2.

2. Having the wrong plan

What works for me and my family may not work for you or your family members.

Often diets & even nutritional plans supplied by personal trainers fail because they do not match the person. Just because a diet / meal plan worked for Arnie the muscle-bound PT at the gym, does not mean it will work for you.

Please also remember that personal trainers providing specific meal plans fall outside of their scope of practice. (consult a professional)

Sometimes, a diet plan is just not a good fit for you.

Arnie the PT lives at the gym, trains routinely & has a dietary plan to match.

You & I have a full-time job, family, commitments, and so on.

It is important to make sure you choose a method that works best for you based on your lifestyle and personal preferences. (look out for our diet road tests in future articles).

One final important note – We know the hurdles and understand what it takes to overcome them.

Weight gain did not occur overnight so it will not disappear overnight.

There are no quick fixes, just long-term lifestyle solutions.

One of our simple lifestyle rules is –

Eat the correct amount of food for your requirements and eat the right foods.
